50,000 SEK for QL at Dreamhack, av3k invited

Dreamhack organisers have confirmed further details ahead of their summer 2010 event including a 50,000 SEK (€5,000) prize purse.

The tournament will feature sixteen participants with five international qualifiers, three qualifiers from Dreamhack BYOC and seven further wildcards joining reigning champion Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski. So far only Pelle "fazz" Söderman has confirmed his spot - after winning the Norwegian qualifier at The Gathering - but the likes of Kevin "strenx" Baeza, Alessandro "stermy" Avallone and last year's finalist Alexand "Z4muZ" Ihrfors have all officially registered their interest and look likely to pick up wildcard spots.

Last year's winter event saw a strong showing from Europe's top Quake players, with the absence of Shane "rapha" Hendrixson allowing Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski and Anton "Cooller" Singov in particular to shine. One player yet to appear on the wildcard signup list is Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevsky, who suffered a rare blip in the 2009 tournament but is still expected to compete.

Running from June 19th to 21st, the 18th Dreamhack event to be held at the Elmia exhibition centre in Jönköping looks set to draw in the crowds once more to reaffirm it's title as "the world's biggest LAN party". Tickets are already on sale and can be found on bokning.dreamhack.se.
